Coffee & Cocktails with MC visits Dog Thrive

Matthew Stewart, Dog Thrive

This doggie daycare and boarding provider is truly an awesome place for "man's best friend!"

Let me just say that, if you are NOT a dog lover, this not the place for you πŸ™‚ I had the pleasure of spending time in the “puppy room” and loved it!
Matthew and the team have done a fantastic job of creating a warm and welcoming environment for the dogs AND their owners.
Watch to the interview and you will see for yourself.

Tell Us a Little About Yourself

Application: Matthew Stewart, Dog Thrive

How did the idea for your business come about?
I've been training dogs professionally for over a decade and this was always a dream of mine.

Describe a typical working day for you.
Up at 6 am – Meeting with my business partners at 7:30 am. Doing anything and everything until about 5 pm. From 5pm and on it depends on the day. Sometimes I'm training new staff, sometimes I'm training dogs, or sometimes I try to catch the end of happy hour πŸ™‚

What motivates you?
My family and my love for animals.

How do you define success?
Giving more than receiving. Being able to have freedom to help others.

If you could talk to one person from history, who would it be?
Steve Jobs

Why that person?
The way he innovated something at such a large scale. His work ethic. His simplicity.

Who has been your greatest inspiration?
My family and my dog named Abby.

What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
Seeing peoples excitement, trust, and positive feedback. We've worked so hard on our business, and try daily to always do the right thing – and it's great seeing that paying off.

In one word, characterize your life as a small business owner.

Where do you see yourself and your business in 10 years? 20 years?
We hope to just get better each day. We were fortunate enough to get an amazing deal in Annapolis and be able to open a second location. With Scott and my brother coming down recently to help with the business, its been great thing and a wonderful opportunity for all of us. I guess our goal is the same as day one… be able to provide the best service possible to dogs and try to help/be there for as many as we can.

Will we be drinking coffee or cocktails?
